February at the App Academy
What’s new at the App Academy at Pasadena High School!
The juniors are on fire! (not literally) The juniors are motoring through java concepts and continue to build the framework for working with Android devices. This semester, students can choose which Android projects to work on, allowing them to follow the projects most compelling to them. Most of them have been working on a Tic-tac-toe game and/or a Music Player app, and this week many will start working with libGDX, the software used in making most Android games and animations.
The seniors have submitted their proposals and begun their senior capstone projects. These projects are original ideas designed by students, and demonstrate the skills they’ve learned over the past three and a half years with the App Academy. They range from robots to retail websites, 2D and 3D adventure games, and even a light-up prom dress! Students will document their progress and work on their projects independently for the whole semester, leading up to a showcase presentation of the finished project.
