Three Edison STEM Scholars Named at John Muir High School

Thank you to Edison International for providing $5,000 in scholarships through the Pasadena Educational Foundation to three PUSD graduating seniors at John Muir High School.  Students were selected by their teachers, the Counselor, and the Principal to become Edison STEM Scholars. All three completed the school's rigorous coursework in the Engineering and Environmental Science Academy and will continue on this pathway with the assistance of this award.

Here is what our selection committee had to say about our newest Edison STEM Scholars:

"David Martinez is one of the most naturally talented students that I have had the pleasure of meeting. He is independent and meticulous about tasks he undertakes. He is polite and always interested in what the teachers have to say, even if it contradicts his previous ideas or understanding. He plans to major in civil engineering at UCLA and has shown great mastery in his engineering courses at Muir."

"Christian Salazar is a very charismatic and unique individual who strives to achieve not only his academic goals but his personal goals as well. He shows great interest and perseverance not only in his engineering classes but in all of them. He plans to major in mechanical engineering at Cal State LA."

"Jaime Silva is a quiet student who works hard and doesn't break under pressure. He's a friendly individual and a quick learner. He truly enjoys his engineering classes and especially loves the hands-on work. He plans to study mechanical engineering at Cal State LA."

Each of our Edison Scholars also received additional scholarship awards and funding from other sources, ensuring that the cost of a four-year college education will not be an obstacle for them to pursue their education, careers, and dreams.
