PEF offers technical assistance to the PUSD by coordinating and writing grant applications to government agencies as requested by the PUSD. In recent years grant applications have brought over $5 million annually to PUSD projects from government grants.

One of 29 Department of Education grants awarded nation-wide to provide intervention programs and strategies designed to prevent students from dropping out and help them successfully graduate high school.
Foreign Language Assistance Program - $872,266
Three year U.S. Department of Education grant helping to launch the Mandarin Chinese Dual Immersion program at Burbank Elementary School.
National Endowment for the Arts for My Masterpieces - $70,000
Two year grant giving national recognition to the arts education program My Masterpieces: Discovering Art in My Community that was collaboratively developed by PUSD and its community arts partners.
Teaching American History -$999,051
U. S. Department of Education grants in collaboration with Huntington-USC Institute for California and the West, Huntington Library, and El Rancho Unified School District, providing professional development for teachers in American History.
21st Century Community Learning Centers for High Schools - $750,000/year
California Department of Education provides grants for Pasadena LEARNs to provide after school programs at PUSD high schools. PEF also assists LEARNs to obtain state After School Education and Safety (ASES) funding for elementary and middle school programs.
PEF also writes grants to foundations and corporations to support education initiatives in the PUSD.
