Making a difference in the lives of students and teachers every day
 

Pasadena Educational Foundation thanks the 2,200 individuals who made contributions last year to support the public schools of Altadena, Pasadena and Sierra Madre. This generosity and support in a difficult economy and one of the most financially challenging years for California’s public schools daily touches the lives of the 19,000 Pasadena Unified School District students, their families, teachers and our community. Examples of programs that we have been able to accomplish together include:

• Over 1,100 preK-12 students participated in PEF’s 2011 Summer Enrichment Program, including 110 who received scholarship assistance.
• Over 8,000 students experience the innovative My Masterpieces arts curriculum developed in partnership with our community’s stellar arts and cultural organizations.
• College and careers are made more accessible for PUSD high schools students, through college fairs and college prep workshops, innovative project-based learning, and the more than $100,000 in college scholarships that have been supported by PEF.
• Students at each of PUSD’s seven middle schools participated in robotics classes and a robotics competition.

These are only a few of the opportunities the Pasadena Educational Foundation has provided students and teachers – and it’s all made possible by your support and belief in what PEF does. The challenges for public education are enormous. A generation of learners is at stake. Never has the need been greater for the community to support its students and schools.
